K in the pink shirt, H in her black leotard. After H's class, we were waiting for S and K and A in the lobby when we heard a loud caucaphony in one of the other gyms. There was a drumming troupe there, vigorously beating their drums while women strutted around the gym, warming up. Hannah wanted to go in and watch, so we did. After K's class, she came in too, and they both joined in the dancing. It was an African dance class. The dancers would group together (not sure if they were grouped according to ability or experience or not), and they would follow one of the three instructors across the gym emulating their dance step. The lead drummer would play a certain signal when it was their turn to move across the floor, and then again when it was their turn to stop and walk back to the starting point again.

The students are holding hands, and they are to skip to the right holding hands, turning together in a circle. H immediately thought that this was "ring around the rosey" and fell down, along with the girl in the pink leotard on her left. Our friend C is on the right of H.

H on her first day of ballet. H had her class first, and K would have been there except there were problems with tights, so S had to take her to get a new pair. K's class was later anyway, and she made it on time.

Haircut time for H.

A good view of the self-administered shearing. She took a nice swath out of the front down to about a quarter of an inch or so.

H gave herself a(nother) haircut in the bathtub.
