Halloween night. Trick or Treat. Our cute trick-or-treaters. K is Cinderella. H is a fairy. A is 3 months old.
As you may guess, there is a story behind H's costume. S had bought a ballerina costume for her (even though she already had a leotard, shoes and tights she wore to ballet) which consisted of a leotard/dress thing and cheesy faux ballet shoes. H and S dropped by work on Halloween day, and H was wearing the fairy wings with the wand. "See my new costume" she says. I thought she was going to wear the wings with her ballerina costume, but no, the fairy costume was it. I totally dig the way this kid thinks. She's so like me; I could see myself coming up with this minimalist, low effort costume.
Speaking of low effort, I don't think we're even going to hand out candy any more. Teenagers were trick-or-treating without even having costumes. Like they came straight from school or something. I mean, please, you want the free candy, you could at least dress up. And don't get me started on the ladies from our neighbor nation ot the south (I'm talkin' grown women here, and not like they needed any candy anyway, they were well into their "thicker" years) who came up with their bags. Need to work on my espanol so I can say "How old are you?" I couldn't buy a "trick-or-treat". I guess that's how they do it down there. So this may be the last time we give out candy. I have a full year to simmer down though, I'll probably change my mind by then.
